James Gavato is a Digital Content Producer for KOAA News5 in Colorado Springs.
He is a Pueblo native, and a graduate of Pueblo Centennial High School. James first became interested in media there, where he was the sports reporter on the morning announcements, and was the play-by-play commentator for many of the school's basketball games.
James is a graduate of Colorado State University Pueblo, where he received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Mass Communications, with an emphasis in Journalism. While at CSU Pueblo, James was a DJ for the college radio station, and was a sports writer for the school's newspaper.
After graduating from CSU Pueblo, James began his career with KOAA News5 as a News Department Intern. He then was an Assignment Editor for a year and a half before starting his role as Digital Content Producer.
What drives James the most is to keep the community he grew up in informed on what's happening. He is always looking to help out in the newsroom, and find out as much information as he can to bring stories to light.
When James is not in the newsroom, you can find him at various sporting events across the state, or spending time with his family in his hometown of Pueblo. Although he now lives in Colorado Springs, Pueblo will always be his home.
