COLORADO – Colorado Springs-based Air Force Space Command operates and maintains 185 United States controlled satellites from strategically located air stations around the world.

At other air stations there are massive radar monitoring skies for missile attacks while also tracking objects in the lower orbit of space.

The importance to national security could justify a no holds approach to operations. The choice instead, is to be good stewards of land and your tax dollars.

There are plans in place dedicated to preserving history, artifacts, and endangered species found at some Air Force Stations.  At others, millions of your tax dollars are saved by putting in place alternative energy sources.

News 5’s, Bill Folsom got an inside look at Air Force stewardship at two air stations in New England. See the story, Thursday on News 5 at 10:00.
