Suspect identified in fatal shooting near downtown Colorado Springs

COLORADO SPRINGS — The Colorado Springs Police Department has identified the suspect in a fatal shooting that occurred Monday near downtown Colorado Springs.

The incident happened Monday afternoon in the 500 block of South Nevada, near a car wash.

CSPD officers responded to the scene just before 4 p.m. and found a deceased adult male in the alley behind the business.

The victim of the shooting has been identified as Nicholas Anderson, a local tattoo artist and father. He is better known as Nikko Alan.

CSPD has identified the suspect in the shooting as 56-year-old John Stokes of Colorado Springs.

Stokes was arrested for Murder in the First Degree and booked into the El Paso County Criminal Justice Center.

According to CSPD, this is the 18th homicide investigation in the Colorado Springs this year. At this time last year, there were 26.
