Neighbors gather for an event Saturday morning in hopes of making parks safe.

After reports of a woman getting confronted by homeless people confronted  at Vermijo park last week, local residents say they want to see change.

A small group gathered at the park Saturday morning to hold signs and spread a message of ‘Safe Parks, Safe Trails.’

‘We just need to kind of say no hey! we’re not going to tolerate this this is not acceptable behavior and something needs to change,’ said Tracey Jackson, an organizer of the group.

Some people living in Old Colorado City even showed up, saying they hope the community can help out the homeless community and prevent any possible violence.

The group says they are working on setting regular meetings to address concerns.
