PRAGUE, CZECH REPUBLIC – On a day when the temperature never got over 40 degrees, close to 400 people went for a day-after-Christmas swim in Prague, the capital of the Czech Republic.

They gathered for the 70th edition of the country’s oldest winter swimming competition.

Competitors came from Europe and from as far away as Argentina to take a dip in the frigid Moldau River.

The river temperature was 39 degrees which was actually warmer than the air temperature.

If the cold was an issue, you couldn’t tell it by the faces of the swimmers.

However, one man did admit that he had decided to take the plunge after drinking “Four or five beers with a friend.”
