Today’s Forecast:
The weather becomes active and a little winter-like as we move into the weekend. The winds will accelerate later today and we’ll get pretty gusty, especially by the end of the day. Tonight we’ll bring rain back into the Pikes Peak region down to Pueblo and Canon City, with light off and on showers lasting into early Friday morning.

A Fire Weather Watch remains in effect for the east central plains, northeast highlands, western Las Animas County, Huerfano County, and Pueblo County until 8:15 p.m. Thursday.

COLORADO SPRINGS: High – 72; Low – 38. Mostly cloudy skies with gusty winds with light rain returning after 9 pm tonight.

PUEBLO: High – 79; Low – 41.  Partly cloudy skies with gusty afternoon winds and light rain after 9 to 10 pm tonight.

CANON CITY: High – 78; Low – 38. Mostly cloudy skies with some gusty winds in the afternoon and light rain returning after 8 to 9 pm tonight.

WOODLAND PARK: High – 58; Low – 32. Mostly cloudy skies with cool temperatures and only a light isolated shower or sprinkle (possibly a flurry by early tomorrow morning) later tonight.

TRI-LAKES: High – 60; Low – 30s. Mostly cloudy skies with cool temperatures and light rain returning after 9 pm tonight.

PLAINS: High – 70s; Low – 40s. Mostly cloudy skies with very warm and a stronger breeze with light rain returning late tonight, generally around and after midnight.

WALSENBURG/TRINIDAD: High – 70s; Low – 30s. Mostly cloudy with elevated fire danger today and Red Flag Warnings likely for Friday due to a smaller chance of rain and stronger winds.

EXTENDED OUTLOOK:
Fire danger will remain high in the southern mountains and Las Animas county during Friday afternoon, but as we head into Saturday, rain and snow slowly spread south from the plains and Pikes Peak region down to that dry stretch of southern Colorado. Rain will be the biggest story of the day Friday, with off and on scattered showers from the morning well into the afternoon and evening. A strong cold push of air will bring snow from the north, over Monument Hill, Teller County and then south to the southern mountains Friday night through Saturday morning.

Snow totals by Saturday morning/midday will be tough to pin down since we’ll have a lot of melting at first Friday night. Monument Hill and Woodland Park will probably see somewhere between 1 to 4 inches, especially in the grass. Colorado Springs is likely to see snowfall across town, but accumulation will be limited mainly to areas along and north of Woodmen Road, downtown will likely see little to no actual accumulation. Canon City could see light snow and maybe a quarter of an inch of snow into Saturday morning, but Pueblo will mainly just stay rain into Saturday morning. The southern mountains will see the heaviest snow into lunchtime on Saturday, with towns like La Veta and Cuchara easily grabbing over 2 to 3 inches.
