Summary: A big parent storm moves from the Washington coast into southern Canada, but it spawns a secondary storm over central California, and that plows into the western slopes of the Rockies, bringing fresh powder…and avalanche watches to that part of the world. But just patches of clouds survive the trek over the Divide into the Plains today and tonight. We keep the mild, until that California storm rolls through Friday, bringing snow to the mountains, rain to snow in the Plains…which will change to snow Friday evening, and breezy/cooler conditions into Saturday. Seems short-lived, though, with a rapid rise in temps on Sunday.

Not a lot of precip expected Friday, maybe a tenth or two.
