Today’s Forecast:
The mountains keep a chance for scattered storms today while the lower elevations stand a much better chance of staying dry. The high pressure system that brought our monsoon fueled storms has centered itself over Colorado, and that means the mountains along and west of the Continental Divide have the best chance for quenching rain. We still should see scattered storms along the southeast mountains close to the Spring fire, and Teller and Fremont county could also both see a few more isolated afternoon thunderstorms. The I-25 corridor and plains will stay mainly dry, but with how humid and warm the air will get we can’t rule out an isolated thunderstorm during the afternoon.

COLORADO SPRINGS: High – 85; Low – 58. Warm and muggy today with only a slim chance for an isolated afternoon thunderstorm due to the very humid air we’ll feel through the afternoon. We’ll clear the skies tonight and stay mild.

PUEBLO: High – 93; Low – 62. Hot and muggy today with only a slim chance for an isolated afternoon thunderstorm due to the very humid air we’ll feel through the afternoon. We’ll clear the skies tonight and stay warm.

CANON CITY: High – 89; Low – 64. Hot and muggy today with only a slim chance for an isolated afternoon thunderstorm due to the very humid air we’ll feel through the afternoon, western Fremont county should see a few isolated thunderstorms. We’ll clear the skies tonight and stay mild.

WOODLAND PARK: High – 75; Low – 53. Warm and muggy today with isolated and scattered thunderstorms possible through the afternoon. There could be some heavy rain in storms today but flash flooding concerns are on the low end. We’ll be dry and mild tonight.

TRI-LAKES: High – 70s/80s; Low – 50s. Warm and muggy today with only a slim chance for an isolated afternoon thunderstorm due to the very humid air we’ll feel through the afternoon. We’ll clear the skies tonight and stay mild.

PLAINS: High – 90s; Low – 60s. Hot and muggy today with only a slim chance for an isolated afternoon thunderstorm due to the very humid air we’ll feel through the afternoon. We’ll clear the skies tonight and stay mild.

WALSENBURG/TRINIDAD: High – 80s; Low – 50s/60s. Warm and muggy today with only a slim chance for an isolated afternoon thunderstorm due to the very humid air we’ll feel through the afternoon. Areas west of Walsenburg to the mountains could see a return of scattered heavy rain in the afternoon. We’ll clear the skies tonight and stay mild.

WEEKEND OUTLOOK OR NEXT WEATHER MAKER
Hot and mainly dry air returns Saturday… and it’s not going anywhere fast with 90s or higher expected through most of the region well int the middle of next week. Daytime heating could spark a thunderstorm in the mountains over the weekend, and possibly some of the foothills near Colorado Springs, but generally we’re expecting drier conditions over the next 4 to 5 days. Monsoon moisture tries to make a come back next week around Wednesday and Thursday.
