GAME OF THE WEEK – Pueblo East (4-2) vs. Pueblo Centennial (3-3):  A lot of people wrote the Eagles off after back to back losses a few weeks ago but after trouncing Pueblo South last week in the Cannon Game, the East Eagles look like they are back on track for the 3A State title game. Kain Medrano returned from injury and had an immediate impact on the field with three touchdowns and 96 yards receiving. Centennial will no doubt try and double Medrano in space and limit his catches but that could be easier said than done. The Bulldogs will be happy to be back home Friday night and a win will propel them into the Bell Game next week with a head full of steam.

Discovery Canyon (6-0) vs. Thomas Jefferson (6-0): The battle of the Undefeateds will wage at All-City Stadium, Friday night. The Thunder appear to have their mojo back in 3A, more than doubling their opponent’s points and doing it almost all on the ground. Same goes for Thomas Jefferson – their two-headed running attack of Ethan Rollins and Daveon Hunter are hard to stop, or even slow down. Bad news for the Thunder is how well T.J. played on the road vs. Lewis-Palmer last week, expect a better performance at home Friday night. Shawn Mitchell will no doubt have his Thunder ready for the game and a win will put them in the driver seat of the 3A Central League.

Pine Creek (5-1) vs. Mesa Ridge (4-2): One of two things is going to happen Friday night between these two teams; either PIne Creek takes a stranglehold on the 4A Southern 1 League or Mesa Ridge vaults them in the standings. The Grizzlies have been on a tear since mid-September winning four straight games, clobbering Palmer 68-6 last week. The Grizzlies haven’t beaten the Eagles in a long time (because they didn’t play annually until the leagues were restructured) but Friday might be prime time for it. That’s easier said than done vs. Pine Creek. The Eagles will be well rested since their game last week vs. Cheyenne Mountain was forfeited by the Indians. Todd Miller’s team has only one loss on their record and that was to Valor Christian, the favorites to win the title in 5A. Expect a good game from both teams.

TCA (3-3) vs. Elizabeth (3-3): Unless La Junta collapses from now until the end of league play, TCA are playing for second place in the 2A Tri-Peaks league. But the Titans have a great chance to bury Elizabeth and clear some space between them and the rest of the teams left. TCA held firm in a home win vs. Manitou Springs last week and now can they keep the winning streak going? A win vs. Elizabeth would be their fourth in a row.

Chaparral (1-6) vs. Fountain-Fort Carson (4-3): Can the Trojans make it four-in-a-row Friday night? FFC has righted the ship since back to back losses at the beginning of September and they look to be comfortable right now. They’ve allowed 14 points over the last two games, a trend they’d like to continue vs. Chaparral.
