USAFA — The U.S. Air Force Academy and Colorado College hockey teams will go head-to-head in the Faceoff at Falcon Stadium next month in the first college hockey game played at the stadium.

The two teams have competed nine times in the series, with the Falcons taking home six wins.

"We are thrilled to follow the 2020 NHL Stadium Series game at Falcon Stadium with an outdoor Air Force vs. cross-town rival Colorado College game two days later on Monday night,” Director of Athletics Nathan Pine said. “The Air Force vs. Colorado College game will be a one-of-a-kind experience for our players and all hockey fans in the Colorado Springs community. I would like to thank the NHL for their support in making college hockey part of what we know will be a very special weekend."

“We are excited to play outdoors at Falcon Stadium,” added Lesley Irvine, the Colorado College Vice President and Director of Athletics. “This provides a unique experience, not only for our program, but for our community, campus and fans. We hope to see many Tigers there and look forward to a fun weekend of hockey events.”

According to the academy, this is the first outdoor varsity game for the USAFA team.

“We are very excited about the opportunity to play at Falcon Stadium,” head coach Frank Serratore said. “Our program has never participated in an outdoor game. This one will be extra special because it’s being played on our campus against our cross-town rival. I strongly encourage the entire front range community to attend and cheer on their local college teams, and experience what may very well be a once-in-a-lifetime event.”

“We are thrilled for the opportunity to play another outdoor game,” Colorado College head coach Mike Haviland said. “Our players had such a wonderful experience at Coors Field and this game should not be any different. This also is a great chance for Colorado Springs hockey fans to watch a game in such a unique setting.”

Tickets are on sale for $25 and parking will be available for $10. Both can be purchased online by clicking here. This game is available to 2019-2020 Air Force hockey season ticket holders

The match up will happen 5 p.m. Monday, Feb. 17, three days after they play at the Broadmoor World Arena.
