DENVER (AP) — A woman who fell through the ice with her dog on a frozen pond in suburban Denver has died.
KMGH-TV reports 53-year-old Leslie Webster fell into the pond near Colorado Academy in Lakewood on Sunday. Her husband saw the accident, and firefighters pulled her and her dog out of the water within about two minutes of arriving.
Webster, who taught kindergarten at the academy, died at a hospital, and the dog died at an emergency veterinarian clinic.
Mike Davis, the head of the school, says Webster “will be dearly missed by students, faculty, staff, parents and alumni.” She had taught at the school since 2009.
