Victim of Christmas Day house fire in Black Forest dies from injuries

BLACK FOREST — One victim that was taken to a hospital to be treated following a Christmas Day fire in Black Forest has died as a result of those injuries, according to the El Paso County Coroner's Office.

The Coroner's Office identified the victim as 80-year-old Sherry Macmahon. She was one of two people taken to the hospital for injuries.

Officials said the fire broke out around 3:45 a.m. while four people were in the home located off Bridle Bit Road.

The Black Forest Fire Rescue said the fire destroyed 75% of the home.

There were seven agencies working with multiple partner agencies on this house fire.

There is no determined cause at this time. However, authorities have ruled out arson.
