Victim in El Paso County kidnapping case located

EL PASO COUNTY — On Saturday, Jan. 4, the El Paso County Sheriff's Office reported they were investigating a kidnapping that occurred on Jan. 3.

The victim of the kidnapping, 24-year-old Karel Lopez-Hurtado, has been found safe with minor injuries, according to the Sheriff's Office.

The Sheriff's Office reported that their investigation into the kidnapping revealed four men had broken into a home in the 18700 block of Birdseye View and kidnapped Lopez-Hurtado at gunpoint. The men also assaulted two of five children who were inside the home.

According to the Sheriff's Office, the suspects in the case have yet to be identified and are considered armed and dangerous.

There is no known danger to the community at large as this appears to be a target specific crime, the Sheriff's Office said.
