COLORADO SPRINGS — Traffic engineers and city leaders in Colorado Springs are ready to discuss ideas for a 20 year transportation plan. There is a virtual community meeting happening Thursday February 18th.

It is much more than adding roads for more cars as the city grows. "How do we best move people in the next 10 to 20 years,” said Colorado Springs Traffic Engineer, Todd Frisbie.

To better handle the rapid growth in Colorado Springs there has to be other options than a singular roads and cars approach to getting around. "We want to move vehicles and traffic efficiently and safely. We also want to consider that there are other modes of travel that people want to use and like to use," said Frisbie. Walking, bikes, and transit will all become more important in years ahead.

The 20 year transportation plan has been coming together for months. Part of the process included taking suggestions from the community. Those ideas have been compiled along with work of traffic engineers. It will be presented and open for discussion at the Thursday meeting. The on-line meeting starts at 5:30 in the evening.
