COLORADO SPRINGS — Tara Studer, who is facing DUI and Vehicular Assault charges following her involvement in a crash last July that caused a local man to lose his leg, was back in court on Tuesday.
Studer is being held without bond after authorities say she skipped out on her court date in early January.
On July 9, 2019, local musician Mike Elmore was unloading equipment from a van on Colorado Avenue, when police said an SUV slammed into him.
Elmore's son said he was severely hurt, losing part of his right leg, shattering his left leg, breaking ribs, and breaking his right arm near the shoulder, among other injuries.
Studer was charged with Vehicular Assault/DUI (Felony), DUI (Misdemeanor), and Driving Under Restraint (Misdemeanor).
Later in the year, Studer got into more trouble. On Dec. 22, 2019, Studer was charged with Motor Vehicle Theft/agg 2-over $20,000 (Felony), Attempted Motor Vehicle Theft/agg 2-over $20,000 (Felony), Criminal Impersonation (Felony), False Reporting/False ID (Misdemeanor), and Driving Under Restraint (Misdemeanor). Then on December 23, 2019 she was charged with Attempted Escape (Felony).
