Ski Report: Blue sky skiing for Thanksgiving weekend

Posted
and last updated

Several rounds of snow in the past week have ski areas feeling confident heading into the popular Thanksgiving weekend. Eldora had their opening day Monday. Both Beaver Creek and Crested Butte opened Wednesday morning. Aspen Mountain, Snowmass, and Telluride will open on Thanksgiving.

Fresh snow does not look likely this weekend for most of the state, apart from a brief batch of snow for the southern mountains by Friday morning. The weekend in general will be sunny with mild weather. Most ski areas will be in the 30s and 40s and stay above freezing during the day.

These conditions will make for easy travel and little worry for treacherous weather. What you do need to plan for ahead of time? Reservations. If you haven't already reserved your spot on the lift for the holiday, you will need to do so ASAP.

Aspen Snowmass is fully booked for Thursday and Friday, per their tweet on Tuesday.
