COLORADO SPRINGS — The El Paso County Sheriff's Office says the initial stages of its investigation into an officer-involved shooting are nearly complete.

According to a press release, the Sheriff's Office says it expects to turn over its findings to the Fourth Judicial District Attorney's Office by the end of this week.

The Sheriff's Office began investigating the shooting shortly after it took place on Aug. 3 in the 2500 block of Fountain Blvd.

Under Colorado state law, law enforcement agencies are not permitted to investigate actions against their own officers.
