Sheriff's Office arrests suspect in Thomas Faircloth's homicide case

COLORADO SPRINGS — The El Paso County Sheriff's Office have identified and arrested a suspect in the homicide case of Thomas Faircloth.

On March 9, detectives completed and in custody booking on Randy Bishop and charged him with second degree murder

Around 2:19 p.m. on Nov. 2, deputies were dispatched to a vacant lot at the intersection of Galley Road and Powers Boulevard in reference to a found body.

When they arrived on scene, they found a deceased man, who they identified as 27-year-old Thomas Anthony Faircloth, with suspicious injuries.

We previously reported that Bishop was featured on a most wanted list early last fall, managed to escape police custody at a local hospital, and shot Colorado Springs Police officers.

According to police, Bishop was spotted driving a Mercedes in the southeast part of the city. As officers tried to get him to pull over, Bishop reportedly fled, causing the officers to disable the suspect's car by using their patrol car.

Bishop was arrested without further incident in the 900 block of Tammany Drive.

According to police, Bishop fired at least one shot at the officers, striking Officer Beau Becker. Both officers returned fire as the driver fled the area. The car was later found crashed nearby and the driver gone.

Bishop is now facing the following charges:

  • Unlawful Distribution, Manufacture, dispensing or Sale of a Controlled Substance

  • Felony Menacing
  • Child Abuse
  • Attempted First Degree Murder of a Peace Officer
