MONUMENT — A man in Monument has created something he believes could help small businesses in the fight against COVID-19.

Robert Zwick, a retired engineer, built a device for Cactus Jack's Saloon in Evergreen.

It essentially acts as an air filter to prevent people breathing in airborne viruses which we know can easily spread, especially indoors where it is not well ventilated.

"This is an example of something somebody could make to help other people," Zwick said. "So anybody can make this relatively cheaply, put it in their small business and maybe save an employee's life."

Zwick said to build a similar device you only need HVAC filters, box fans, and some supplies found at most hardware stores.

He said he hopes more people will take advantage of the simple design to help keep small businesses open.
