Overnight crash on I-25 involving motorcycle leaves two dead

EL PASO COUNTY — Colorado State Patrol is investigating a crash that left two people dead on I-25, early Sunday morning.

The crash happened at approximately 12:30 a.m. Sunday morning.

State Patrol said a motorcycle driven by a 42-year-old man was traveling the wrong way up the northbound off-ramp to South Academy Blvd. At the same time, a Hummer H2 driven by a 63-year-old man was coming down the off-ramp.

The vehicles collided and both the man on the motorcycle and a female passenger were killed in the crash. The driver of the Hummer suffered minor injuries and a 56-year-old female passenger suffered serious injuries.

According to State Patrol, the driver of the motorcycle was a Fort Carson soldier.

The crash is under investigation and alcohol is suspected as a factor, State Patrol said.
