COLORADO SPRINGS — The falling snow in Colorado slowed heading into Monday night, but plow and sanding crews have a lot of work ahead. "Just because the road is open doesn't mean motorists aren't going to encounter adverse winter driving conditions," said Michelle Peulen with the Colorado Department of Transportation. Crews will be working through the night and into Tuesday.

"The areas that give me pause for genuine concern are secondary routes, some of the residential areas where we're seeing hard packed snow, said Colorado Springs Public Works, Manager, Jack Ladley, “When they get that solar exposure it creates a little film of water on the top and it gets even more slick." With record low temperatures the concern is icy conditions overnight and into the morning commute.
