COLORADO SPRINGS — A major roundtable was held in Colorado Springs Wednesday to discuss transportation.

Specifically, the discussion revolved around improving transportation in and around our local military installations.

Governor Polis was joined by local elected officials, military officials, and members of the Pieks Peak Area Council of governments to talk about a multi-million dollar federal grant application and local mathcing dollars to improve transportation access to our five military installations. The goal is to travel safer, less congested, and accomodate the needs of our veterans.

"You know we are very hopeful that we will get the funding that we seek to compliment the funds that we have committed, but it's certainly not a comprehensive list of all of the needs, which is part of why we are having this conversation today," said Shoshana Lew, Executive Director of CDOT.

This is part of a statewide strategy as well, as there are hundreds of millions of dollars in projects on the table to improve overall transportation upgrades across the state.
