FOUNTAIN — Fountain Police reported Sunday morning that a Fort Carson soldier suspected of shooting a man Saturday night and driving away with a 17 year-old girl was arrested in Texas.

According to Fountain Police, 21 year old Stephen Cruz Sandoval was considered armed and dangerous and a felony warrant was issued for his arrest.

At 8:45 Saturday night, police got a call for a shooting on Alegre Circle. When officers showed up, they found a man with multiple gunshot wounds. The victim was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Police said Sandoval also took off with a 17 year old girl, Keloe Roxie-Malia Tata. She was then considered missing and endangered.

Fountain Police report that early Sunday morning, authorities in Borger, Texas located Sandoval and Tata. Sandoval was taken into custody without incident and is being held in the Hutchinson County jail, awaiting extradition to Colorado. Tata was found safe and unharmed.

Sandoval is facing charges to include Attempted 2nd Degree Murder, Menacing, and Endangerment.

Fountain Police said the arrest could not have been possible without the help of the Colorado Bureau of Investigation, Amarillo Police Department, Borger Police Department, and the El Paso County Communications Center.

A mugshot of Sandoval has not been released at this time.
