PALISADE — Crews on the western slope are monitoring a fire that broke out during the Palisade Peach Festival Fireworks show.

According to the East Orchard Mesa Fire Department, the fire has burned between 3-5 acres on the south side of the Colorado River. Large cottonwood trees and dry brush are fueling the fire.

Numerous firefighting and law enforcement agencies responded to the fire Friday night

So far there is only one vehicle with reported damage. No buildings or homes have any damage and there are no injuries.

With Red Flag Warnings expected across the western slope, there's an increased risk and concern for fire danger in the area through the day.

Fire investigators have not determined an official cause, but the believe the fireworks are the likely starter.
