COLORADO SPRINGS — The application for volunteers to join a police oversight board is now open in Colorado Springs.
The Colorado Springs City Council is moving forward with one proposalof two presented to them Tuesday evening.
Council ultimately showed the most support for a plan that would allow council members to appoint people onto an advisory board, rather than a model where the council president would choose people who have already been selected as options by those behind the proposal.
The application process for the Police Accountability Board opened Wednesday, but the City Council will meet Monday to "direct City Staff regarding the new committee’s formation including how many members from the public will serve, governing language and mission for the committee."
The committee will be established on Tuesday during the council's meeting.
