COLORADO SPRINGS — Academy District 20 officials announced Friday morning they are following through with their back-to-school plan and bringing middle and high schoolers back for in-person learning later this month.
This update comes after several updates from the district announcing several schools quarantining students in the last week as precautions with the latest from Tuesday that 20 students and staff members from Discovery Canyon Campus are in quarantine.
The district said they learned Tuesday that a staff member was on campus while showing COVID-like symptoms.
Their test has not come back positive yet, so as a precaution the district said the staff member will be isolated for 10 days or until they are no longer infectious.
Students between sixth and 12th grade started the year remotely on Aug. 24, attend school in a remote synchronous environment. Students have been logging in to class from home and attending classes as if they were in person. They have also followed their daily schedules, in real-time, and engaged in a variety of classroom learning activities.
Families who have students following the hybrid model will return on Sept. 14 while those students who selected 100% online learning will continue as they have been.
