Powers expansion project checkpoint this week
Two intergovernmental agreements (IGAs) will be presented to City Council starting today. If the IGA's are approved, construction for the first phase is expected to start in early October. The two-phase Powers expansion to Interstate 25 is expected to cost millions, but the money will not be coming from the city.
Fall begins on a warm note with above average temperatures
The first day of fall brings warm weather to Colorado. Temperatures will be 5-8 degrees above average. High clouds will impact southern Colorado today leaving us with periods of filtered sunshine. A few showers are possible in the Sangre de Cristos and San Luis Valley today.
Nightly closures for next two weeks on 30th street
30th street between Mesa and Garden of the Gods roads will close from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. each night for the next two weeks. Drivers are advised to use alternate routes. This is part of a 2C-funded construction project to widen 30th Street.
Denver Zoo: greater one horned rhino Tensing is expecting
Tensing, the zoo's 11-year-old greater one-horned rhino, is pregnant. According to the zoo, rhinos have one of the longest gestation periods of all mammals at an average of 470 - 480 days. So, while the calf was conceived in November of 2018, it isn't due until spring of 2020.
President Trump admits to discussing Joe Biden during call with Ukraine leader
President Trump will meet with world leaders throughout the week as he faces tough scrutiny for a phone call with Ukraine’s president, Volodymyr Zelensky. The president confirmed that he discussed former Vice President Joe Biden and his son in the July phone call that led to a whistleblower complaint.
