Fall begins on a warm note with above average temperatures

Today’s Forecast: Happy Autumnal Equinox! The first day of fall brings warm weather to Colorado. Temperatures will be 5-8 degrees above average. High clouds will impact southern Colorado today leaving us with periods of filtered sunshine. A few showers are possible in the Sangre de Cristos and San Luis Valley today.

COLORADO SPRINGS: High - 80; Low - 50. High clouds are expected all afternoon. Temperatures will be above average today. Winds will be light.

PUEBLO: High - 84; Low - 52. Warm today with high clouds. Winds will be light and it will be a great day to be outside.

CANON CITY: High - 81; Low - 55. Nice and warm in Canon City today with high clouds. Winds will be slightly breezy.

WOODLAND PARK: High - 73; Low - 44. Beautiful and cool for the first day of fall. Expect low 70s with high clouds.

TRI-LAKES: High - 70s; Low - 40s. Comfortable weather is expected today with high clouds. Temperatures will be in the upper 70s.

PLAINS: High - 80s; Low - 50s. Getting a bit hot today in the Plains. It will be mostly sunny through the early afternoon with high clouds later. Mid to upper 80s are expected.

WALSENBURG/TRINIDAD: High - 70s/80s; Low - 50s. Walsenburg will be in the upper 70s today and Trinidad will make it to the mid 80s. High clouds are likely. The Sangre De Cristos may see a rain shower.

Extended Outlook: Tuesday is trending warm with plenty of sunshine, rising to 10 degrees above average. Temperatures will drop a bit on Wednesday with a cold front, but the sky will be clear. Thursday brings another boost of heat to the 80s. Then on Friday we see the next weather maker, with showers likely in the mountains in the early afternoon then moving east into lower elevations Friday evening and overnight.
