CSPD monitoring home off Boulder Street for possible suspect

The Colorado Springs Police Department is monitoring a home off Boulder Street where they believe a suspect who fired a weapon early Tuesday morning is located. CSPD received reports around 3 a.m. of shots being fired. Be sure to check back with News5 for updates.

Fremont County Sheriff: Sexually Violent Predator moving to Penrose

The Sheriff's Office said the purpose of the notification is to enhance public safety and protection. The individual, identified as 54-year-old Jessie R. Yerton, is moving to 608 S. Broadway in Penrose, Colorado, according to the Sheriff's Office.

CSPD identifies man who died near scene of burglary

CSPD's Homicide/Assault unit continues to investigate this violent crime that unfolded in the early hours of Sept. 9 in a neighborhood south of downtown. CSPD said the man who died near the scene of a burglary is 18-year-old James Hardy.

Warm and breezy conditions elevate fire danger through southern Colorado

Cloudy skies across the mountains and adjacent towns through the morning with plenty of sunshine in the afternoon, especially for those farther east of the mountains. Down sloping winds out of the west and southwest will keep it hot and dry across southern Colorado, with fire danger staying elevated through the end of the day.

More than 40 illegal marijuana grow sites found in Las Animas County

The Las Animas County Sheriff's Office said it worked with multiple agencies to locate the 40 plus illegal sites, but the community also had a hand in tracking down them down. Deputies said the marijuana is possibly valued at $5 million.
