Evacuations lifted for Bear Creek Fire, now 50% contained
Homeowners living near the Bear Creek Fire zone in southwest Colorado Springs were allowed to return home Thursday night. The fire is estimated to be 23 acres in size and 50% contained. No homes have been lost or damaged in this effort, but Electra Drive remains closed.
The fire started before noon with a large plume of white smoke spreading across neighborhoods and trails. An aggressive aerial attack was launched early, and firefighters said great mitigation work by homeowners in the area helped them save homes.

Pueblo among counties moving to red status on COVID dial
The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment announced Thursday several counties will move to stricter levels on the COVID-19 dial. Pueblo will be moving to Level Red on Sunday, which shuts down indoor dining. Take out, curbside, delivery, or to go, will be available and outdoor dining is open with only groups of your own household.

Swinging back to chilly fall-like weather after this abnormally warm week
The weather is going to feel A LOT colder today compared to most days this week. Highs will be in the 50s this afternoon and we'll get overcast as thick clouds roll off the mountains. The winds will be breezy again today, ramping up in the late morning through the mid-afternoon out of the south and southeast.

Colorado Springs named as finalist for permanent US Space Command headquarters
After months of evaluation, the U.S. Air Force announced Thursday that Colorado Springs is being considered as the permanent headquarters for U.S. Space Command.
Communities that wanted to be considered as the permanent host of U.S. Space Command were asked to submit a questionnaire. Out of 40 communities, Colorado Springs was named one of the finalists.

In-N-Out opening today in Colorado Springs
The long-awaited opening of In-N-Out in Colorado Springs is finally happening! The company announced the Colorado Springs location is opening Friday after completing all inspections Thursday. This location will be open every day from 10 a.m. to 1 a.m. and until 1:30 a.m. on Fridays and Saturdays, according to a release.
About 30 cars were already lined up early this morning at the fast-food chain with more anticipated to arrive as it gets closer to 10 a.m.
