Three Colorado children potentially have inflammatory illness; appears to be related to COVID-19

Gov. Jared Polis announced Wednesday there are three potential cases of an inflammatory illness impacting children is now in Colorado. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has issued an alert about a rare, inflammatory illness being seen in children across the country called Multisystem Inflammatory Syndrome in Children (MIS-C). The CDC is still not sure what is responsible for MIS-C, but many children who contract it had the virus that causes COVID-19.

Design plans move forward for new East, Centennial High School buildings

Plans to repair and rebuild aging buildings in Pueblo District 60 are moving forward and the big project on the table right now - constructing new high schools for East and Centennial. This project, along with others, is made possible through the $218 million bond issue that passed last year. As far as Centennial and East - the district says it's still in the development phase, but that the two schools will follow the same floor plan.

Beautiful weather with isolated severe chances in Baca and Prowers County

Lots of beautiful weather in the forecast today but we still need to watch the plains for strong to severe thunderstorms in the early evening. The mountains and I-25 corridor will stay dry today, but there is a solid chance for severe weather in Baca and Prowers county from 6 to 9 p.m. tonight. An isolated strong storm could try and develop in El Paso and Pueblo County around midnight tonight, but that chance remains fairly low.

Fire burning near Kim in southeast Colorado

A wildfire is burning in a rural area in eastern Las Animas County. The blaze is closest to the town of Kim, about 60 miles east of Trinidad. There was not much information available on the fire Wednesday night. There are no reports yet from fire officials on how the fire started or current acreage. Some folks who live in the area told News5 that it appears to be moving quickly. The area experienced dry and windy conditions Wednesday.
