COLORADO SPRINGS — Cone zones for the 2C repaving project on Garden of the Gods Road started in October and will be along the busy road until late spring or early summer of next year.
"We are starting 2020 work in 2019,” Colorado Springs Streets Division Manager Corey Farkas said the about 2C repaving work.
An early start for a reason.
"Always trying to get the buffer, get ahead," Farkas said.
Doing cement work through the winter allows for repaving in May.
This is one of numerous major 2C projects for 2020. Managers do not want those projects to bottle neck at the end of summer.
For drivers. it means a winter with cone zones along Garden of the Gods Road.
"We're going to try to stay to one side of the road so that we're not impacting too much and we will move those cone zones as we progress down the road. Once we hit 30th we'll flip and come back the other way," Farkas said.
Project managers are well aware this is one of the busiest of busy streets in Colorado Springs.
