PUEBLO – Pueblo police identified a suspect they arrested following a standoff on the city’s east side Monday afternoon.
Police arrested 56-year-old Benjamin Sandoval for attempted second-degree murder, violation of a restraining order, menacing and domestic violence after police said he shot at his 30-year-old son.
It all started around 1 p.m. when officers responded to a home in the 800 block of E. 1st Street on a shots fired call. When officers arrived, they found two other people inside the home had already left, but they said Sandoval refused to leave.
He surrendered to police a little more than 45 minutes later.
Sandoval’s son wasn’t hit, but police found a bullet in an interior wall and a handgun inside the home.
