PUEBLO – So far this month, 10 Pueblo Police officers are on paid administrative leave stemming from officer-involved shootings.

The most recent incident happened Saturday near the Eilers neighborhood.

The department said everything should run as normal, despite having 10 officers on the sidelines.

“It affects some crews more than others. We just need to adjust accordingly but we are doing OK with manpower,” said Sgt. Franklyn Ortega. “It ain’t like we’re canceling vacations or anything. It’s just certain crews are going to be shorter than normal.”

The eight officers who fired shots during the incident on Saturday have yet to be identified.

So far in 2019, there have been three officer-involved shootings in Pueblo.
