BRIGHTON — Brighton Police say they are investigating a threat against Brighton High School. The school was initially locked down and then evacuated as a precaution late in the afternoon.

Police say there was never an active threat, only a tip that was being investigated, and no students or staff were believed to have been in danger.

All other schools in the district operated as normal.

Carmody Middle School in Lakewood was also placed on lockout status Friday afternoon due to a similar report of a student with a weapon.

The middle school was thoroughly searched and a weapon was not found.
