COLORADO SPRINGS – Free all-day kindergarten was the focus as Governor Polis stopped in Colorado Springs Thursday.
Polis recently signed the Long Bill, which budgets for the program.
Thursday’s visit took the Governor to High Plains Elementary where he talked to parents and teachers about the plan.
“Really what I told your kindergartners just now is ‘aren’t you every bit as important as first graders?’ and they said YES so the state will finally acknowledge that,” Polis said.
District 20 has already started offering the free full-day kindergarten option on its own starting in Fall 2019. Registration is open now.
