Spring skiing is coming to a close and that means it’s time for Monarch Mountain’s signature event, Kayaks on the Snow! This will be the 13th year in a row for the event at Monarch, and the forecast is looking to cooperate.
The event is simple. Contestants are pulled up the mountain by a snowcat and race down a specially designed course full of berms, banks, and bumps into an icy pond at the base. The first person still in their kayak to make it to the finish line wins!
Registration is from 9 – 10:30 am at the Season Pass Desk. The race is from 11 am till 2 pm. You must bring your own kayak, PFD, paddle, helmet, and carabiner. Awards and photo opp to take place at 3 pm.
