UPDATE: At approximately 7 p.m., CSPD reported that the intersection had reopened.
COLORADO SPRINGS – A person is in critical condition after they were struck by a dump truck while riding a bike at the intersection of Fillmore and Union Tuesday afternoon around 4 p.m.
Westbound Fillmore at Union and all of southbound Union are shut down at Austin Bluffs. Drivers are advised to avoid the area.
A News 5 crew on scene was told that the person on the bike was a male but at this time we do not know if that person is an adult or a teenager.
The intersection is expected to be closed for two to three hours while detectives investigate.
