COLORADO SPRINGS – A video going viral since Sunday shows an employee at Pet City in Chapel Hills Mal rough handling puppies as they were swapped out from an enclosure.

Facebook user Michele Ebling wrote, “My kids just took this video..” from the other side of the glass where customers can see potential pets.

The video, as you can see below, shows the now former employee shoving a puppy back inside a cage and slamming the door on the dog as it tried to get out with its friend.

In response, Pet City, located in Chapel Hills Mall, made a Facebook post on Monday thanking the public for bringing the abuse to their attention.

According to the post, Pet City terminated the employee and are having a licensed veterinarian conduct full physicals of the puppies. Pet City says it is also conducting mandatory team meetings to go over proper handling and care instructions of the animals.

This is a developing story, we will bring you updates as they become available.

Make this viral! My kids just took this video at #petcity at #chapelhillsmall. This makes me sad and furious! Poor puppy! @petcity Chapel Hills Mall
