COLORADO SPRINGS – A Fountain- Fort Carson school beaming with pride after winning a national award.

For the first time, Abrams Elementary has been named a National Showcase School. Almost all of the students at Abrams are tied to the military and the school is being recognized for its ability to keep students and family connected.

“We really believe that relationships are a core to student success,” said Lori Skaggs, principal. “We greet children as they come into our school, every day, multiple times. We shake hands. We make eye contact with kids.”

That’s not all, the students are also asked to sign social contracts, which are a set of guidelines for solving problems and correct behavior.
