Suspect arrested after standoff in Cañon City

1:55 p.m. UPDATE – Cañon City Police have arrested a suspect who was barricaded in a home off E. Main Street.

21-year-old Dakota Lee was wanted on felony warrants for charges including:

  • Aggravated Robbery
  • Second Degree Assault
  • Menacing
  • False Imprisonment
  • Child Abuse
  • Criminal Mischief
  • Harassment
  • Reckless Endangerment
  • Domestic Violence

Additional charges are now pending but have not been filed.

No one was injured in the incident.

CANON CITY – Cañon City police are working to apprehend a barricaded suspect in a home off of E. Main Street.

Officers have been on-scene since about 7:20 a.m. Police said the suspect is wanted on a felony warrant. It’s happening in at 2485 E. Main Street, which is near the intersection of Greyden Avenue and Main, near the Napa Auto Parts store.

Police have evacuated people living in the surrounding area as a precaution. Roads in the area are also closed.

Police said there is no threat to the community, but they say the scene is active.

 

**UPDATE**
On 03/29/2019 at about 11:06 AM, Dakota Lee (21) of Cañon City was taken into custody on the previously mentioned felony warrant after officers safely de-escalated the situation. The charges in that warrant are:

 Aggravated Robbery  Second Degree Assault  Menacing  False Imprisonment  Child Abuse  Criminal Mischief  Harassment  Reckless Endangerment  Domestic Violence

Additional charges are pending and will be filed at a later time. There are no outstanding suspects related to this case. During this incident no one was injured.

During this situation, Fremont County Sheriff’s deputies assisted the Canon City Police Department with traffic control at road closures.
