FORT CARSON – An annual full-scale exercise is coming to Fort Carson on April 17. The exercise will take place at the Camp Red Devil Military Operations in Urban Terrain site starting at 9 a.m.

The exercise, dubbed Mountain Guardian 19, will test emergency response and recovery systems and capabilities for an active shooter scenario on post. It is expected to last several hours.

Military aircraft will be used to transport exercise casualties to a local hospital. City and county emergency responders will take part in the exercise as either responders, observers, or evaluators.

Service members, families, and civilian employees should expect increased traffic and some delays during the exercise, and should take extra precautions and allow for extra travel time on post.

For more information contact the Fort Carson Public Affairs Office at (719) 526-7525.  After hours, please contact the 24-hour Fort Carson Operations Center at 526-5500 and ask for the On-Call Public Affairs Officer.
