Funeral services set for Trooper killed during March blizzard

LONGMONT — State Patrol has announced funeral service plans for Corporal Dan Groves who was hit and killed in the line of duty while helping a stranded motorist in Weld County amid blizzard conditions on March 13th.

The Celebration of Life service will take place Thursday, March 21st at 10:00 a.m. at LifeBridge Church in Longmont.

The service is considered a private event, but will be open to any member of the public who wish to come pay their respects to the fallen trooper.

52-year-old Corporal Groves had served with the State Patrol since 2007.

State Patrol also wishes to thank the community for the outpouring of love and support in the wake of the loss of Corporal Groves, they say anyone who wishes to offer financial donations can do so in one of two ways.

Donations can also be made to the Rocky Mountain Hyperbaric Association for Brain Injuries.
