COLORADO SPRINGS – Families of furloughed federal employees can take part in all the YMCA has to offer for free.

Pikes Peak Area YMCA’s are opening their doors to non-members and suspending dues for furloughed members. Those workers are encouraged to bring families in for a safe place to ride out the stress and financial hardships the shutdown is causing.

“We have a lot of family activities from sports, aquatics, healthy living, group exercise classes, personal training, social opportunities, we offer it all,” said Boyd Williams, President and CEO.

This isn’t the first time the Y has let people come for free, they opened their doors during the Waldo Canyon Fire.
