TRINIDAD – Shield 616 presented 15 body armor kits to deputies from the Las Animas County Sheriff’s Office Monday night.
The non-profit organization said numerous donors and sponsors in the Trinidad area helped make the donation possible.
The kits are rifle-rated and designed for active shooter situations. Monday’s donation means that all sworn members of the Las Animas County Sheriff’s Office have access to the equipment.
Shield 616 has donated gear to numerous law enforcement agencies across southern Colorado. The organization was started following the Planned Parenthood shooting in Colorado Springs in November 2015.
