COLORADO SPRINGS – As tax bills come due in the new year, there is a unique program in Pueblo County that allows for those who are delinquent to work off some of their tax debt.

How to save money in 2019: financial planner provides tips

The county is accepting applications for it’s property tax work off program. People over the age of 60 can work with different non-profits in Pueblo County. It’s being funded with $50-thousand dollars through the county from the Department of Human Services. Those who run the program say they understand that many in that age group are on fixed incomes, or don’t have enough money in their retirement plans to be able to afford to pay the tab. This allows them to pay off their property taxes, and stay in their homes longer.

The Department of Human Services will be accepting applications until the end of January, the 30th to be exact. The head of the department says working the program can help pay off up to fifty percent of your property tax debt.
