COLORADO SPRINGS – A new list of the best and worst cities for an active lifestyle was released recently.

Colorado Springs comes in at number 33 on the list, partly because of the low number of physically inactive residents.

So what exactly went into the rankings?

A few things were the average monthly fitness club fee, cost of sports apparel, baseball and softball diamonds per capita, and proximity to ski resorts.

A few other Colorado cities also made the list.

Aurora came in at number 55. Denver was near the top of the list at eight.

The Denver Post reports that even though Colorado is the least obese state in the nation, there are some metrics that probably knocked the capital city down on the list.

Some of those qualifiers include proximity to an ocean or lake and the lack of public golf courses per capita.
