COLORADO SPRINGS – The Colorado Spring City Council is set to vote on PlanCOS, the city’s comprehensive plan for the future, on Tuesday.

The plan, which comes after months of surveys and community meetings, details how Colorado Springs will handle future development and growth.

The plan is comprised of six main points, or “big ideas,” which are:

  • Vibrant Neighborhoods
  • Unique Places
  • Thriving Economy
  • Strong Connections
  • Renowned Culture
  • Majestic Landscapes

The document is set to serve as the vision and framework for future city priorities for the next 20 years.  If approved by city council, the plan will be used by city staff and city leaders as well as other stakeholders in city government.

The plan forecasts significant growth on the east side of the city, especially following the Banning Lewis Ranch annexation. It also calls for the city to focus its economy on supporting military industries, attracting new industries. It also calls for making housing available for everyone.
