ROCKY FORD – The Rocky Ford Police Department is currently investigating a shooting that sent a Rocky Ford man to the hospital on Sunday.
The department said they believe a 23-year-old man was walking in the area of Pine St. when he was confronted by a 16-year-old juvenile and shot multiple times.
The shooting happened just after 5:30 p.m. Sunday.
The victim was flown to an area hospital for medical treatment. The Police Department said it’s believed he is in stable condition and is expected to survive.
The 16-year-old was taken into custody and transported to the Pueblo Youth Services Center where he is being held on suspicion of attempted first-degree murder, first-degree assault, possession of a handgun by a juvenile, and reckless endangerment.
