Pueblo Police identify New Year’s Eve stabbing suspect

PUEBLO – The Pueblo Police Department has identified the suspect involved in a stabbing that occurred New Year’s Eve in the 1700 block of East Orman Ave.

The suspect has been identified as Brehon Herlihy.

Just before 10:30 p.m. on Dec. 31st, Pueblo Police officers responded to the 1700 block of East Orman Ave. on a report of a stabbing. Pueblo PD said officers determined that 41-year-old Johnny Borrego had been stabbed twice in the chest.

Borrego was rendered medical aid and transported to a local hospital.

After an “extensive” search, Herlihy was located.

Herlihy has been charged with 1st-degree assault and was booked into the Pueblo County Detention Center.

Pueblo PD said Borrego is expected to survive his injuries.
